Kitchen Remodel
The Setup: This 1960s era home presented some unique design challenges to the Sunshine Sunrooms team. With a narrow 3.5’ x 9’ foyer and formal living and dining rooms obscured by walls, the biggest challenge involved updating the space while still retaining the best elements of the classic layout.
The Goal: Complete a dramatic kitchen remodel that broadens the space and takes the kitchen from an outdated, self-contained layout to a fresh, open layout with an updated galley-style kitchen.
The Process: Starting with a classic 1960s and 1970s floor plan characterized by a living room, formal dining room, den and kitchen all separated by walls, Sunshine Sunrooms removed the wall separating the living room and kitchen to open the space and create the perfect backdrop for the upcoming design changes.
Design Highlights: The center of the kitchen is updated with a colossal 42” bar area that’s large enough to serve food, host guests, and more. Topped with genuine granite, the countertops provide a striking contrast to the rustic yet modern hardwood cabinets and lustrous stainless steel appliances. Keeping some classic elements, a range hood is installed above the range, counter to many modern kitchen remodeling projects that incorporate a microwave/exhaust combo above the range.
